Life through a lens

Sunday's lockdown wander

This morning I went for a walk through Lowther caravan park and back by Buckholme lodge. I've walked past this barn that sort of looks like it has a church window many of times. I was told it was originally used to store the funeral hearse carriage when it was the days of horse and carriages. I've also heard that the Polish refugees that were living in the resettlement camp in the Elysian's fields which is now Lowther caravan park used this building as somewhere to worship. I think it was still a resettlement camp up until 1955. There's still evidence of concrete in the woods where the Nissan huts once stood to house the tank regiments during WW2 and after it then became a resettlement camp with up to 600 Polish refugees living in the camp.
