A most amazing man

Bob passed away of covid complications on Wednesday evening - he went into hospital on New Year’s Day having had a stroke and caught covid on the ward

He was the nicest man you could ever meet, an academic, historian and story teller, his passion for life was infectious, he threw himself into every activity with great gusto. I remember one of the first times meeting him in my early twenties being taken on a very enthusiastic historical walking tour of Leeds city centre. He wrote many local history books so was an absolute fountain of knowledge

I last saw him just over two years ago at my friends wedding and he was on fantastic form the same old bob as ever, kept me entertained for hours with his stories and his new obsession with crossword puzzles

Bob you will be very sadly missed
