Flooding by the Lock
L3 Day 41 After rain in the morning a quick cycle including along the ,very busy, towpath from Kingston to Teddington Lock. After the heavy rain the river was very high and there was a high tide too. The locks at Teddington were fully open and the rollers were covered in water. Plus flooding by the Anglers pub. The weir was built in 1871 , the footbridges were opened in 1889 , a lock was rebuilt in 1858 and the very long barge lock, the longest in the Thames, was opened in 1905. The bridges have not been painted for years and could do with an overhaul as they are looking rather scruffy. They have been used more than usual in the past year!
