Get Smart

Our boiler has been playing up for a while, so we’ve had to admit defeat and call out a plumber.

For whatever reason, it developed a mind of its own and would come on at random times day and night and force us into a subtropical climate.
As someone who is always cold, you’d think that I’d be happy, but it even got too hot for me!

Mr A and I previously debated getting a smart thermostat installed, but it seemed a bit of an uneccessary expense. It was appealing though as we have most other things in the home set to run on smart automation.

In possibly a world first, the plumber arrived on time and quickly sussed out that our wireless controller had given up the ghost and was no longer ‘talking’ to the control unit on the boiler.

It seemed to us to be the perfect opportunity to opt for a smart thermostat after all, especially as the cost of replacing what had broken (like for like) was more expensive!

So we now have a nifty little gadget that we can control via our phones or voice (via Google). It can even be set to work off your geolocation so that it knows when you’re coming home and will turn on the heating so it’s warm when you arrive.
Isn’t technology great?! ;-)
