The dry dock railway

This afternoon F and I went for a walk along the canal from Lower Frankton. The weather was much milder but the canal was still thick with ice. F can’t help but skim stones on ice but it didn’t break.

We got to the old brick builder ‘s house which has dry dock in the garden and watched the owner’s steam railway chugging around it.

We chatted to the owner (F is very keen on model railways) and he told us that the dry dock cannot be altered due to its history from being used in the days of canal travel. He wanted a model railway but his wife wouldn’t let him have one in the house so he was lucky to have a garden big enough for the layout. The blip is taken from across the canal so you can see that it was a good size.

We then carried on with our walk while the man sorted out a derailment on the track. There was no problem social distancing as we only saw one other walker on the towpath.
