It’s been a hot day, but we’ve just had a heavy shower of rain which has cooled everything down.

I’ve been dismayed at the news today of the UK reaching 100,000 deaths from Covid-19. It’s appalling & distressing. The latest variants have added to the distress of so many people. And 1,000,000 worldwide. It’s beyond words. Tragedy.

We’ve had a case in NZ of someone in the community being infected with the South African variant, and so far, no contacts have tested positive. It’s thought that she was infected somehow in the managed isolation hotel. It’s a wake up call, but I’ve hardly seen anyone using the Covid-19 app.

There’ve been many suggestions that our borders should be closed temporarily to people from the UK & USA. It would be hard on NZers wanting to come back home.
