Splash of colour

On this rather dull afternoon the bright patches of the lichen Xanthoria parietina, seen on a rock by the shore at Phingask, seemed to glow. A frequent coloniser of rocks, especially by the seaside one of the common names for this lichen is 'Sunburst lichen'.
