Temperatures dropped below zero today, a proper chill in the air. So your average German responds by inexplicably throwing open the windows to let in some deliciously-bracing ‘frische Luft’.

The whole thing can be elevated to a cultural norm, maybe helped by the excellent quality of windows which help rooms to quickly re-heat. Imagine how vindicated they feel that ventilating is now part of the official covid response.

And why not stick your duvet out for a good airing whilst you’re at it?
