Shrine

An exhausting day! I am now officially creaking. I finished off the paintwork in the bathroom (well there may be a teensy bit to do tomorrow) and it's looking good. No sooner had I finished than we went off  and yomped the circuit major. It must be good for us! The rain now coming in.

I have to confess to not taking this photo today but in fairness I am  currently working on revamping an old blog entry on Cork city wells, having most satisfactorily found out a source full of interesting and new information. This poor little structure was once much revered and is the remains of an 18C shrine dedicated to the BVM, part of the Lady's Well site in the city. It's in the most fantastic situation with huge views across Cork but is continually vandalised inspite of the Council renovating it on several occasions. The water is still plentiful but you can no longer access it due to the protective grill. It is opposite the original Murphy's Brewery (Murphys rather than Guinness is the Cork beverage!) which was named Lady's Well Brewery - maybe the holy water was the key ingredient!  Heineken now own the brewery. Probably the best holy water in the world!  Thank you PictureMull for some really interesting MM challenges in January.

And Happy Burns' Day to you Scots, a quieter affair than usual I suspect. Getting into the mood we had a blast of Donald Where's Your Trewsers at lunchtime, my playlist is going to get even more bizarre!
