2017-10-15 (Day 288) Drip Bridge
Today I went out for a drive along the route of the Stirling Marathon. It scared me, a lot.
So, rather than thinking any more about that, here is a picture of the Drip Bridge, which is on the route. It's an eigteenth century bridge just off the A84, and is a Schedule Monument, meaning that it is protected in law.
The bridge crosses the River Forth, and is believed to have been built on the site of a mediaeval ford. In the 1700s, before the bridge was built, there was a ferry crossing at this point.
Now, it shelters a little hamlet just outside of Stirling city, and appears to be a popular fishing spot!
