Busy Monday

It’s Monday again so it must be soup preparation day. Maggie’s is still mostly operating on remote consultations, so no baking required there. This is probably just as well as I don’t feel like testing out any icy pavements on my delivery walk in the cold early morning dark.

Before the soup I had a expedition to get some Orkney Beremeal Flour from the Edinburgh stockist, Real Foods, and managed to claim the last bag on the shelf. I have a recipe for an Orkney Beremeal and Oat Farmhouse Loaf which I want to try. I can eat it with my Westray Wife cheese.

I was so pleased at getting the flour that I continued walking clockwise into town , round by Princes Street, and a chance to spend an M&S voucher on a new nightie. No money had to be exchanged in the transaction which pleased me enormously. In case any one wonders how it is possible to shop for clothes during this latest lockdown , I can only say that M&S have a selection of what they consider essential clothing on the ground floor with the other floors closed, apart from the food hall.

How the nights are drawing out now. A month ago it was getting dark at 3:15 but today the sun is still shining at 4:00 pm , but it’s still dark when I get up.
Once the snow melts by the boundary wall I will look and see if my illegal daffodils have made it through to 2021 although my tub narcissi are nowwhere to be seen.
