So, it turns out that - between the motorway and Scotland's largest industrial site - is this.

This is Polmont Woods, a woodland that lies on the ridge that formed part of the Antonine Wall. The Wall, of course, being the Romans' northern defensive line in Britain, some 1800 or so years ago.
