Harassing a noble visitor

Over a late-morning breakfast we noticed a large bird swoop down past the window. It looked like an eagle. On its second passing, it stopped to pause on the roof of the building across the road. It was indeed an eagle but a Golden rather than a Bald eagle.
Throughout this encounter, the eagle was constantly harassed by a group of magpies and crows who knew exactly their strength in numbers and how near they could venture without putting themselves at risk.
After a few minutes it returned majestically to the skies.
