Canal Cycle

I usually go on a walk to mark my birthday but lockdown makes that impossible this year even though it would just be a couple of us out in the Dales. Next year I hope it will return but to still do something me and Josephine cycled along the canal to Temple Newsam and back - something I've not done before. This was the view on the canal as we tried to beat the sunset in the way home.

There's a new service station only a short detour off the route that we went to to get a hot chocolate - turns out we stumbled upon a place that lockdown forgot. There were indoor and outdoor seating areas full of people out on walks, definitely not just stopping as part of an essential journey. Was very surreal that it was allowed to happen.

Thankfuls:
- still being able to do something for my birthday weekend within the rules
- sunny bike ride
- warming hot chocolate - was necessary on the way home!
- brunch crepes with the boys and their enthusiasm to cook them
