Different Day Today

Another from the cemetery, this one a Commonwealth War Grave. The reason it is one of my favourites is its proximity to the yew tree. I imagine that 100 years ago it would have been placed adjacent to the tree, not quite as close, but in a century the tree has probably grown considerably.

It’s difficult to locate any information on Lance Corporal, 3/5517 Michael John Weightman of the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry other than that he was a local. I’d speculate that his death in 1920 would have been either a long term WWI injury, (at the time Falmouth had a military hospital), as a result of the Spanish Flu pandemic or an accident.

Complete change in the weather today, cold wet and windy. A lot of the walkers are indoors, can’t say I blame them.
