2015-08-14 (Day 226) James Tod and Son
This is the Jinkaboot Bridge, which corsses the River Avon at Grangemouth.
I stopped there for a wee look around today, and was interested in this maker's nameplate on the bridge. Google has indeed heard of James Tod and Son, and points to a news article about the company. (https://www.thegazette.co.uk/Edinburgh/issue/8668/page/179/data.pdf)
It appears that in 1876 (10th March 1876, to be precise), Messers James Tod and Son - Railway and General Smiths, Engineers and Machine Makers - sold their business. The buyers were Messers Turnbull and Oliver, who promised to "merit...continuance of the support...accredited to their predecessors."
Messers Turnbull and Oliver also said they would retain the old name - so I wonder if this bridge was built before or after the buyout?
