2015-07-31 (Day 212) Blackness Castle
I went to Blackness on the way home tonight. The weather was, as so often this summer, not really what one might expect of July!
When seen from above, this castle is shaped like a boat and is often referred to as "the ship that never sailed". It was built in the 15th century by the Crichton family, and over the years has served as a garrison fortress, prison and ammunition depot.
Fans of the TV series Outlander may also recognise it - it was used in season one, where it masqueraded as Fort William!
