And so today we set off on our summer holiday - a seven day cruise of the western Mediterranean, aboard what is apparently the largest cruise liner afloat. 6,500 customers and over 4,000 crew, and a displacement more than six times that of the Titanic.

We got up at a ludicrously early hour - we would have been as well not even going to bed - and drove to Edinburgh Airport. From there we flew to Barcelona, and had a transfer to the ship.

When we got on we were able to play in the pool and use the facilities, but it was an hour or so before our cabins were ready. Once they were we went and unpacked, then were ready for dinner and to watch the ship pull away from the harbour.

The adventure has begun!
