Celebration - part one
So my youngest got engaged at Christmas 2019, with a view to getting married in 2020. Then came Covid...
After hesitations, bookings, and postponements, the young couple decided to go ahead with a civil ceremony (next weekend) so they can get on with their lives as a couple. They will be on their own for the actual civil ceremony as family and close friends live elsewhere in the US and Europe and no travel is possible (or desirable).
So the groom’s mom and his sister together with me and my eldest daughter arranged for a virtual celebration of the young couple today. Attendees shared their best memories of the couple and gave them advice for their live together. It was sweet and funny and at least created a little bit of a sense of togetherness — until the actual celebration with pomp and circumstance in May of 2022.
