Wigan Lodge

This Grade II listed lodge is one of 4 still lived in and situated around the original boundary walls of the huge estate, with long driveways that led to the main Hall. It is one of the gatehouses to the Winstanley Hall estate, nestled in the countryside West of Wigan, and once a splendid country seat of the Winstanley and latterly Bankes families, the Elizabethan Manor was built in the 1560's, but has fallen into neglect and dereliction, as is the case of many grand places these days!
You can read about it here;

We regularly walk past it on our local exercise routes.
