Snow on Hedge
It snowed here overnight and has been very cold all day. After some sorting this morning, I binge watched the Netflix docuseries Surviving Death on near death experiences, ghosts, reincarnation etc. So interesting.
Day 314 / Day 19 of Lockdown 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 1,348 to 97,329 (revised basis), with 33,552 new cases, 37,899 patients in hospital, 4,076 on ventilation (a new record) and 4,125 new admissions (concerning these are going up again, despite infections going down). c5.9m have now received their first dose of the vaccine. The BMA has called on the CMO to cut the gap between doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine to 6 rather than 12 weeks in line with WHO recommendations which I think is sensible. Reuters are reporting that AstraZeneca is to cut deliveries of the Oxford vaccine to the EU by 60% in Q1 due to production problems with its factory in Belgium, should the EU approve it on 29th Jan. This is bad news on top of the temporary supply chain problems to the EU with the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine due to re-tooling at its factory also in Belgium. The National Care Association reports concerns over the number of carers refusing a vaccine.
