MONO MONDAY ON SATURDAY

This is the final installment of Mono Monday not on Monday. This is the Outlet of Big Elkhart Lake which flows west into the south ditch of the Sheboygan Marsh. Big Elkhart Lake is a glacial lake formed when a large chunk of ice from the last glacial wave was buried in the gravel (drift) as the glacier retreated 10,000 or so years ago. As the land warmed, the ice melted and filled the depression left in the ground. It's the 3rd deepest inland lake in Wisconsin having a depth of 119' (36.3m).

This lake is fed by large springs which supply it with an overabundance of cold water....thus the outlet exists which lets the excess water out of the basin.

As you can see, the waters of Elkhart Lake are crystal clear. Great fishing too for everything from panfish to the revered Musky. View in LARGE before you choose between color and B&W.  I look forward to seeing the final vote.
