Flocking behaviour

Home again after a week's business travel. It's been cold here since the weekend, but warmed up enough today that the ducks -- long-necked Indian runners -- that came with the house last Fall have been rampaging around the yard. I have no idea what they're looking for. This is the first time I've ever had any direct, much less responsible, connection to birds. But on days like today they'll come up to the window on the terrace first thing in the morning and stare in until I go out to feed them. They're used to being fed at 8:30AM in the summer and daylight savings is apparently just a human invention designed to make their lives miserable. It's flocking behaviour....
