Rushcart Inn

In the village of Sowerby - above Halifax - is the Rushcart Inn - the spiritual home of the annual Rushbearing Festival..  The tradition stems from the community providing new rushes to cover the earth floors of churches many years ago.
The Rushcart is hauled from church to church by a team of strong lads.  Much music accompanies the parade, and much beer is consumed.
