Derwent trees

So many people look at these trees at "normal" water levels, and ask me "how come the roots are all exposed?"

This is why - the water gets amongst the roots when the water levels are high, and it pulls the soil from under the roots when it recedes.

It was a really windy day - could have surfed on the waves!
