Chipping away!
Spent the day in Falmouth.
These volunteers are putting the final touches to this replica of a Bronze Age Boat.
They started by only using the tools which would have been available then, but are now cheating a bit by using more modern tools as well, as it was taking so long!
It is due to be launched next week. Fingers crossed it doesn't sink!
For more about the boat see here
We started the day with a coffee at the Gylly Beach Cafe.
(thanks to you Dru. we really enjoyed it.)
Then a walk along the sea front. Not been to this area before and we were very impressed with the hotels. I wonder if they are as nice as they looked?
Some wonderful apartments too.
A walk round the town, again lots of small individual shops, nice art galleries.
Had a Cornish pasty for lunch. (first this holls!)
Then on to the National Maritime Museum.
A fascinating place. Very well set out. Huge! Loved all the boats suspended from the ceiling.
15 stunning galleries beautifully illustrating the past, present, and future of this island nation.
There was a special exhibition on the Search and Rescue services.
We went up to the top of the tower and had a wonderful view over Falmouth docks, and the river.
Before we knew it two hours had passed by very quickly!
It has been very dull and still a cold sneaky wind, but that hasn't spoilt our day.
