Doe and Fawn

We started our adventure by driving through Ngamatea Station to get to our accommodation.  In the U.S it would be called a ranch.  It is 70,000 acres of high country land growing sheep and beef with side line activities of guided hunting of deer, trout fishing and harvesting Manuka honey.  Everything is on a large scale.    The lodge is used by our friend Martin when he is doing pest control work.  For the last decade he has been feeding the deer maze and they now come out of the bush to feed on the grass.  They were cautious of us but come right up to Martin.  They are Sika deer introduced from Japan.
