After several centimetres of snow overnight we decided to go to Newbattle Abbey grounds to see the snow in the woods. The snow was starting to drop off the branches and getting slushy in places but this evening the snow is settling again. The path that S cleared is covered now and probably tomorrow cars and vans will try unsuccessfully to negotiate the nearby road to the houses again. It seems that the bin lorry could not get up today and there was no sign of the postvan’s tyre marks going to the farm cottages. Fortunately there is no need to drive 25 miles for S’s hospital consultation as this can be made by phone and we are fortunate that we don’t have to travel anywhere but feel for those who do and especially for those caught up with the threat of floods in much of Britain.
