MONO MONDAY ON WEDNESDAY

Continuing with the theme for the week I offer these two images for your consideration. Yesterday, the color version was favored by the voting few. Let's see about this one. Be sure to view in LARGE...it may help you to decide.

This photo is 50 yards west of yesterday's photo. It's called the Kiddie Pond or Glenbeulah Springs. In the distance there's a large spring that pumps 10,000 year old water right out of the water table rooted in St. Peter Sandstone laid down millions of years ago. On top is more recent Limestone and the water crosses the county roadway via tunnel, joins the Otter Pond on the other side of the roadway, which drains, into the Mullet River. The Mullet ultimately joins the Sheboygan River which empties into Lake Michigan, which flows northerly through the Great Lakes and eventually ends up in the St. Lawrence River which joins the Atlantic Ocean. Yup....the water you see will make it to the ocean albeit in many many years, unless of course, something drinks it on the way or it evaporates into the atmosphere.

It's called the Kiddie Pond by locals because trout are stocked there for the kids to fish for so they don't interfere with the "big boys" fishing trout on the Mullet River and the LaBudde Creek. Of course, the big boys go right to the Kiddie pond where the fishing is easy. The local ospreys also like the easy fishing.
