Low tide, Ahanagavanagh

A frosty start, some cold bright sun and now the clouds have rolled in and it's bitter. No gadding today, back to work. Well, a little gadding as I decided to avail of the weather and take my crew out to start the river study. We are very lucky in having the Ahanagavanagh (ford of the young cattle) river wind right passed the school, passed the church and into the estuary. It's a very beautiful spot and the river ticks all the right box for investigation - meanders, silt, pebbles, mud, stepping stones, two bridges and lots of flora and fauna. We stopped, observed and drew. Imaginations ran riot as herons, gulls, kingfishers, tuna(!) and kittens were apparently spotted.

Arthouse tonight is Searching for Sugar Man - I think it might have won best documentary at the Oscars. It's about a 70s Mexican folk rock musican who never made it big, but after his death (possibly by suicide) a bootleg copy of his album hits South Africa where he becomes a posthumous superstar! Chips first of course. Will report back.
