A Hole is a Hole

A hole on the road, well pavement actually. The council have decreed that the lamp posts in our road are to be replaced. Fine, work started yesteray. 4 men, 2 vans, 1 lorry with trailer and mechanical digger. This is the sum total of 4 hours work. But, it took Scottish Energy almost as long to repair the electric supply cable that was damaged while digging the hole. This left us without power for the afternoon! The contractors haven't been back today and there are 12 lamp posts to replace, oh dear! To say they were incompetent would be to flatter them!
