Fishing for breakfast at Mirissa beach
Another early morning wander on the beach. I spotted this local fisherman using a slender branch of a tree to fish around the small rocks at the low tide level. I wondered whether it would be for his breakfast or for a family meal, or even to sell to local bars and food sellers. The beach in the evening does present fresh fish for people to choose what they want to have cooked for them.
In the background and a little way off shore is a fishing boat which has obviously followed a shoal of fish into this bay. They put out nets and circled for some time. I hope there is still enough fish for the local men to keep their lines busy.
My breakfast is taken at a local cafe on the beach road just a short walk from here. Local people and workers seem to be the main clientele which suits me. I love the food here.
