Ancient Wall Paintings
We spent the morning stripping the wallpaper off the dining room wall that had been affected by damp. Fortunately, since the house next door has been occupied and heated again, the damp has disappeared but the paper had started to peel a bit at the bottom so the wallneeds to be relined and repainted.
Under the paper, we discovered this bit of “primitive” artwork which must have been there for 40 years or more. Judging from the name underneath it, it was done by a boy I used to teach at the local comprehensive in the early 80s. We know his family lived here then and his dad was a builder so had probably replastered it about this time when he built an extension on the house. I bet he’d be amused to know his talent has been unearthed after all this time!
This afternoon we walked to B&Q to buy some replacement paper.
Anyway, it made me think of the singer / songwriter Badly Drawn Boy, so here he is singing All Possibilities in an interesting little video that reminded me what used to be normal life in towns and cities.
