Skinning away from the Crowds

This is to show you the “skins” used for walking uphill on skis called “skinning” or ski mountaineering. This is becoming more popular since covid and people of a certain age don’t want to be in enclosed spaces with others. Nevertheless you can usually find a way down that involves a few turns in untracked powder (extra) if you are lucky and have a guide friend with you. The lake in the background is Lac Hongrin.

I am very conscious of how lucky we are living in this beautiful place and that we are still allowed to go out into our playground. I feel guilty when I know how many blippers are suffering severe restrictions at this time. Switzerland has many restrictions too, all but the essential food shops are closed, cafés and restaurants too, but with a small group of up to 5 friends you can go out. Until the end of February this won’t change.
