Snow Shovel
You know how you remember stuff when you're asleep? Well this morning I woke up remembering I hadn't brought the snow shovel down from Perth and as we're heading out to Norway on Thursday, that's a problem.
A Snow Shovel is a vital piece of safety equipment. We all wear avalanche transceivers so's we can be located in the event of an avalanche, but where we are it's not the local mountain rescue that's going to find us, because there's nothing "local" where we're going. It's the surviving members of our party that'll find us and they need to get us out fast and without a snow shovel that's not going to happen.
So I needed to get a snow shovel fast - a check on the internet and I might be able to get one delivered tomorrow, but not sure of the quality. I think the chances of any shop in Hertfordshire having one in stock is remote. So I fired off an email to Mick & Kathy. Don't panic say's Kath we'll get you sorted.
Well that's a relief, so I start to look out all the stuff ready to pack and that's when I find the snow shovel never was in Perth, but properly filed upstairs with all my mountaineering gear. It's not easy this getting old lark you know.
Got a phone call from Longershanks this evening - excellent news, Diana & Lorenzo have got visas to come to the UK, so the three of them will be coming over in April. We've not seen Longershanks since September 2010 when he was Leaving on a jet plane, and we'll be meeting Diana & Lorenzo for the first time. All of a sudden Norway isn't the most exciting trip on the horizon.
