Waste not ...
A long day. Started by waking early due to light from the building atrium as we’d taken down the light excluding blind yesterday. First task was to empty the cupboard on the deck in which we kept what might be in a shed, if we had one. While I was doing that, the men turned up to look at the gas hob.
They didn’t do very much; actually less than the one who came in November. The problem recurred over the two short weeks, and we’ve only just got the servicemen now. From what S described to them, they diagnosed a need for a new part. Bit like a new knee joint. Hope to do it on Friday.
After that we both filled bags and boxes and anything else we could find to take things we can use at Snells, until we find a new home. Then we drove north, in separate cars to make packing up easier. I got there first; was about to unlock the door and remembered one hour and 80 km too late, that I had left the key behind.
Fortunately S knew the code for the lock box, and she wasn’t more than a few minutes behind me in arriving. We emptied the cars, had some coffee and drove back to Auckland and visited daughter J.
Which is where I was taken by her example. The tomato plant was self seeded in “the wrong pot”; the green chairs, after being rescued, needed repainting, and will need another coat or two. The table cost slightly more than a bottle of craft beer (there is some rust, like the chairs); J will mind the BBQ until we need it back.
Ended the day with a very pleasant meal at an Italian restaurant in Glen Eden. More tomorrow.
