It's a very S L O W process.

I did my usual trick - flowers on the way out = 1/2 price, last January.
It was 1/2 way through November (12th) before I noticed the first new spike.
I didn't spot the second one until the 23rd.
It's taken from 12th Nov to 18th Jan from 1st sighting to first flower opening, so it looks like I'm in for a few months of flowers.

Score 11/10 for CS 5. It WAY beats Affinity in at least one respect:-
With CS 5 I can select an area and say "Use that colour" to "fill with in-painting"; with Affinity I have to muck about for best guess by eye with the original colour a couple of inches away from my "mixing pallet".
NEVER a success.
