Lucky Pineapple
In response to Picturemull's lucky cat/maneki neko Blip I'm offering a Lucky Pineapple, as we all need all the luck we can get in these hard times. Decorating the house for the Lunar New Year traditionally starts two weeks before the actually new year starts, in 2021 the Year of the Ox starts on 12 February. Decorations in Singapore include branches of catkins and cherry blossom, and there are many kinds of hanging ornaments symbolising luck, good health, fortune and many descendants, to embellish those branches. Many of the Chinese in Singapore were originally from the southern part of the Fujian region in China, where they speak Hokkien. A pineapple in the Hokkien dialect is 'ong lai' which literally means 'fortune comes'
For MonoMonday with thanks to Picturemull for hosting this month and for these interesting themes :-)
Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday's melting snow reflections Blip and the AT290 results
