The Lozarithm Lens

Pinboard (Monday 18th January 2021)

This is the first Pinboard selection of the year and consists of records connected to film, theatre and TV. I'm busy at the moment sorting the entire collection into alphabetical order, which may influence how I select future displays. I should remind those interested that these are discarded empty picture sleeves from the BBC Gramophone Library that I salvaged while I worked there between 1974 and 1985. I don't think any of these recordings are in my collection in any format, except possibly For Your Eyes Only as I have a collection of the title music of all the older Bond films - a franchise I have long since given up on.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Elisabeth Welch - Stormy Weather (1979)
Harold Arlen, who co-wrote the song, was the first to record this song, in 1933. Since then it has been something of a standard, recorded countless times. I don't think Elisabeth Welch's version sold a lot of copies but it was one of the more bearable segments of the film The Tempest.
