MIG 17 Soviet Union / Oregon Air Museum

I enjoyed a sunny afternoon along with a bit of motorcycle therapy.

Mostly I rode around the Eugene Airport scouting for good spots to shoot aircraft take-offs and landings.

Cruising on an airport access road I found the Oregon Air & Space Museum.

Though closed today it was a marvelous discovery.

Around back of the main building I found a MIG 17 parked in the grass.

The MIG's tail section is badly damaged by what appeared to be an explosion and fire.

However, the rest of the plane is really quite well preserved.

Quite a cool airplane coupled to an intriguing riddle of contiguous preservation and destruction.
