A step too far

The weather looked promising and we decided on a longer walk than we have been doing lately. It landed up rather longer than intended and my tummy started rumbling before we got home. We encountered more mud than we would have liked but to be expected after last night’s rain. 
We saw a police helicopter flying over the beach, actually it hovered for a while. Was it counting the people exercising on the beach? There was no-one at the far end of the beach where I took this blip, the promontory is frequently used as a firing range by the army but all was quiet today.
