Cirrus.

In the lab today we examined the effects of factors such as water salinity, temperature and food availability on the filter feeding mechanisms (Cirrus) of barnacles on the back of shore mussels (Mytilus edulis).

A fantastic lab session and really fascinating to watch at such high magnification!

If only I could have gotten a shot of the cirrus...
