Carnegie Youth Theatre
The Carnegie Youth Theatre is performing Jesus Christ Superstar at the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, this week. I was lucky enough to be asked to come along to their technical rehearsal to snap a few pictures.
This is one taken during the big "Superstar" number. Jesus has refused to answer Pilate, thus forcing Pilate's hand. Jesus will be crucified, and in doing so ensure that his name is forever remembered. The ensemble - and Judas - exult in a large showbiz-style number (the only one in the show). The "happy" feel of this carefree up-tempo number makes the crucifixion scene all the more harrowing.
Also harrowing was the fact that my 70-200mm lens, recently back from repair to the focus motor, did a very ppor job at focusing anywhere under abut 5m away from the stage. Sometimes the focus motor just didn't seem to turn at all. The repair is guaranteed for six months, but I am really rather concerned that it may not be repairable - I sometimes feel that something that is repaired is never as good as it was before it broke down...
Anyway, this is a great show, which I would heartily recommend. The Carnegie Hall can be contacted at http://www.onfife.com/venues/carnegie-hall/overview
