Moon and Lights

This half slip of a moon showed up earlier than I expected; it delights and dismays me to be surprised by the moon. I think I know in my bones that I should be living where the sky gets dark at night, too much urban light pollution; I think the world would make more sense if I were attuned to the phases of the moon. 
My own lights, the holiday peace sign cum fairy Ferris wheel, add to that pollution. But while a dark sky would help with internal cycles and probably better sleep, the lights are so helpful in living where the nights are long and dark.
Wanting it both ways, I guess.
