Locking in Hope
A combined effort
raised funds for our food bank and
now is public art
~ carliewired
In 2019, our city and our local food bank partnered to raise money for the Kamloops Food Bank. A goal of $200,000 was set but it fell short with $125, 000 raised. Most of the money raised went to covering the cost of the steel construction by a local company. Locks were sold for $20 each through the summer and corporate sponsors donated as well. Surprisingly, not all the locks sold found their way onto the structure. The endeavour has left an lasting public art installation at 0 Km on the Rivers Trail in Riverside Park.
