Abstract in Blue
I made a trip to the Arboretum and onto campus on this day. It was my first visit since my retirement; the first visit in a very long time in which I had no formal relationship with Penn State. I was their student from 1982 to 1986, and from 1991 to 1997, and their employee from 1985 through end of December 2020. It feels so strange being unencumbered!
I stopped along the way to walk around a pretty little graveyard, and I was pleased to see a small group of bluebirds playing among the stones. You may see a photo of a bluebird sitting on a grave decorated with flags in the extras.
T. Tiger and I visited the Arboretum, and then we walked around campus for a little while. The photo above is one of the many, many fun abstract shots I have taken of the Business Building that stands at the corner of Shortlidge and East Park Ave. where Mitchell Building used to be.
And finally, we stopped at the Creamery, which is only open from 12 to 6 p.m. these days, for some free ice cream. For when I retired in December, they bought me a very nice cake and gave me a gift card for $99 to the Creamery. Our very first Creamery order was grilled stickies* ice cream, which you may see in the extras. Boy, is it delicious!
The song has to be about the blues, so here are the Moody Blues, with Blue World.
*A grilled sticky is a sticky bun, or cinnamon bun, sometimes grilled in butter and topped with ice cream. You may learn about them and see a photo of one here.
