Resilience

I’ve been watching this rhododendron bud for over a week now. It has had snow and hail on it. Ice has formed and melted and refrozen. Yet still it waits to burst forth.

Some others started/opening 10 days ago but despite rhododendrons originally coming from the Himalayas, these early petals suffered from the sub zero temperatures we have been having.

This and others are biding their time.
