Spalted Beech
I've just bought a macro lens so was eager to test it out. This was an attempt to do something a bit more abstracty. It is some detail from spalted wood, in this case spalted beech. Spalting is a form of wood coloration which is caused by fungi. Although spalting is primarily found in dead or decaying trees, its existence can breathe "new life" into wood being used for artwork through creating some unique patterns, lines and coloration.
