Half Staff at City Hall

The US and California flags fly at half mast today in honor of United States Capitol Police Officers Brian D. Sicknick and Howard Liebengood who died after last week’s riot in Washington. I walked downtown to pick up a book from the library, which is directly across from City Hall. The bright yellow letters of the Black Lives Matter mural are still visible in the street. Most people I encounter are wearing masks. Who could have imagined any of this a year ago?
