Mahonia magic

The mahonia flowers that I picked today have scented the room. They looked especially good when the sun was shining, intensifying their yellow colour. I have never looked at them so closely before as when I took today's photo. They resemble miniature daffodils I think. And the unopened buds look a bit like tiny Brussels sprouts.
